25 MICHIGAN SCHOOL DISTRICTS RECEIVE ELECTRIC BUS FUNDING

Grand Rapids, MI – Hoekstra Transportation congratulates the 25 Michigan school districts awarded funding from the EPA’s 2022 Clean School Bus (CSB) Program.

Through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law of 2021, the CSB Program provides funding to school districts over the next five years (FY 2022-2026) to replace existing school buses with clean, zero-emission and low-emission models. This will serve as a great transition into zero emission transportation, which will have a profound effect on students, drivers, and these 25 Michigan communities. The EPA received around 2,000 rebate applications from schools across the U.S. requesting nearly $4 billion for over 12,000 buses.

“These are exciting times for our industry with these new solutions to make todays’ transportation needs more efficient,” says Tom Hoekstra, Vice President of Hoekstra Transportation. “We are excited to see the long-lasting impact that electric school buses will have on these communities.”

“We are thrilled for these schools who have been awarded funding and are making the commitment to zero-emission transportation,” adds Hoekstra Transportation EV Specialist James Murray. “Additionally, we would like to thank the EPA and our Region 5 directors for making these funds readily available for these districts.”

Hoekstra Transportation is committed to clean transportation solutions and passionate about standing beside those who want to join this initiative. Through partnerships with Thomas Built Buses and Proterra, Hoekstra Transportation is paving the way for zero-emission transportation. They take a consultative approach with their electric vehicle (EV) transition program to guide school districts through their electric bus purchase.
